It happens every year.
You’ll head out to the garden to harvest your beautiful red ripe tomatoes and you will find cracks and splits in the fruit. This condition s caused by a dry period followed by overwatering (or ANY watering).
The tomatoes are perfectly edible, of course, unless bugs have decided to invade the center of the fruit. These tomatoes were picked and eaten immediately, despite their less-than-perfect appearance.

They look delish! The U.S. quest for “everything perfect” is what got us unnatural dyes and genetically engineered fruits, vegetables, and animals……….I would gobble them up post haste!

Now that looks familiar! I’d say about 1/4 of ours end up with little splits. They look bad… but they still taste OH SO GOOD! Yep, we don’t get rain for months and now it’s rained for 10 days straight. We’re drowning! How do farmers do it? Enjoy them, they look delicious!
